![]() ![]() Thursday 17th May 2002 late at night the Empire Earth expansion pack was announced by Sierra l! It is called Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest!!
Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest includes three new single-player campaigns set in ancient Rome, the Pacific Theater of World War II, and Asia in the 24th century. In addition, each of the 21 pre-designed civilizations in the game gains a unique special power, building, or unit. Examples include: the kingdom of Italy’s Metallurgy power, which allows them to pay building costs with gold or iron interchangeably; Great Britain’s S.A.S. unit will be able to plant demolitions and swim across water; and the United States’ market building will allow that civilization to trade abundant resources for scarce ones.

Empire Earth Should Be Released This Autumn (Fall To You Americans)... That is too long to wait if you ask me!
Most of the new units will be found in the Space Epoch and include a unit that has a pretty cool ranged attack spell that it can occasionally use, that will allow what is normally a melee unit be able to throw short swords, long knives at your enemies!
There is also the Scorpion, which is a siege unit. That's sort of like a big, massive crossbow which fires a massive arrow at the enemies units and buildings! (A bit like a balista if you ask me but an arrow instead of a stone... And I dont think this has area effect ither)
There is also the Centurion, which is another fairly cool high attack stat type of unit which also has a very interesting spell that it can cast that will even rival some hero spells, so you should mix a couple of them in with your fleet to destroy the fending army!
They have also came up with the Senator unit that can cast things like Conscript, which will turn some civilians into Legionnaires for so much gold.
There is also things like the radio man which can call paratroopers units to drop in on enemy lines. (If you ask me I think this one sounds wicked!)
And if you are king of the seas dont worry as there is a new upgrade for the gally to try and help you conqueror the seas! It is the Yamato Battleship which if you think you are at school I have some info for you... It appeared late in the Pacific Theatre and according to Jon Payne from Sierra in the Gamespy interview:
This is a truly awesome battleship!!

When you start in the space age you each start on your own planet instead of an island or somthing!
There is also going to be a load more types of maps!
Most of the new structures you're going to see are going to be in the Space Epoch!
There is the Orbital Space Station, which is a special wonder but we dont know much about it, an upgrade for the capitol, and an upgrade for the Granery that dosnt require citizens! There are also a Spy Satellites which I guess you can see all the solar system arround you... A bit like the Pharos Lighthouse!
I don't exactly know about this yet but looking from the 3rd screenshot above there looks to be a sort of wooden wall! I dont know if this is a special wooden wall or if it upgrades into stone! We will have to wait and find out!
Here Are Some More Officail Pre-Release Screenshots From Sierra! (Again Click To Enlarge Them!)
The designing is currently ahead of prosess so who knows?? We might get the game ahead of the planned release date this Autumn (Fall) but proberbly not because of the Beta tests and stuff!
This game will not be shown at E3 This year THE biggest game convention in the world! Good enough as I or any of the other staff are not old enough to go at the moment!
This is bad news for you guys who don't like prophets because guess what... There are going to be new Calamities!
This should brighten you back up though... Like so many people have been asking about there are going to be special units and buildings for all the Pre - Made civs!
Here Are 4 More Screenshots E-mailed To Me By Sierra: (Click To Enlarge)
I have found out some more info on the new units. There are the new carriers used by the Japanese. The unit model is in keeping with the historical Japanese flattop design. The carrier also introduces the Japanese Zero fighter, which will combat for control of the skies with a new Allied unit, the SBD Dauntless. There are also new PBY Catalinas that act as scout planes and help you locate the Japanese carriers.
There will be a new Flame-Throwing Sherman Tank. Also the radioman can call in paratrooper drops so you can frustrate your enemies with a nice surprise.
There are also new abitities in the multiplayer part of the game too which include some new flaming arrows! These do extra damage on buildings like the flame-thrower in the current game and can also spread to other buildings like a firestorm and can not be aimed! 2 new civs have been added to the multiplayer section, the Japan and Korea civs. All together there will be about 18 new units added to the multiplayer part alone and also an example of a new ability is The Crusader, for instance, this can convert other units to their side, and the S.A.S. demolition experts can destroy enemy buildings easy.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Going to the space age now... Have you wondered how you get from planet to planet? Well to bridge the distance from planet to planet you have to build a space dock! In the space dock you can create massive capital ships and carriers that form the main part of your fleet. They'll need to be protected from other ships with a screen of corvettes and fighters. For some reason the teams working on this changed from the originial designs and used compleatly new idears! For example the Capitol Ships appear as short hollow tubes! (This Makes It More Intresting From Other Games!)
The Fighters will be able to go over land and space as the ships have to stop in space!
I Will Put More Info On Here As It Is Found Out!
